My story

Hi I'm Ali Challis and my journey into the world of upholstery began when I inherited my grandma's armchair. It wasn't antique or particularly valuable but for me it kept my memories of my grandma alive. It did however need updating to fit in with my style and home. This was the beginning of my love of upholstery...

Now I work on furniture commissions, bespoke footstools, cushions and lampshades (modern and traditional) in a small studio at home in Northamptonshire. Here I have the pleasure of updating and bringing furniture back to life using traditional and modern upholstery techniques and materials. 

It is always a pleasure to discuss how pieces of furniture can be brought back to life. Whether it is an item that holds special memories, a bargain find that you would like upcycling or a tired set of dining chairs. We will have a chat about what your ideas are in terms of re-inventing your special pieces of furniture and what your needs are in terms of materials, style and budget, whether it is a relatively simple re-cover or more involved repairs or reupholstery.
